As he appears in the text:

“Candy Darling, an actress and model, became one of Warhol’s superstars, starting with a role in Flesh alongside Joe Dallesandro. The two were later photographed together by Richard Avedon. She also had a leading role in Warhol’s Women in Revolt and became a close friend of Lou Reed and muse to the Velvet Underground. A transgender icon ahead of her time, she died at twenty-nine of lymphoma. Candy is the cover girl for the Smiths single ‘Sheila Take a Bow.’”
